Opening Weekend
WPPA Families,
Opening weekend is here for many, and we are all excited. Before games start, we wanted to send an update on a few things.
1) WPPA Store. We will be opening up our online swag store in the coming days. Look out for an email with more information about how to buy WPPA gear. The store will only be open for a limited time.
2) Cubs Game. We have once again acquired a block of tickets to a Cubs game. More details and pricing to come, but mark your calendars for Sunday, September 14 against the Rays, 1:20p start.
3) 12U Cooperstown Trip. You all should have seen the golf simulator scramble email last week, and you can sign up HERE. You may also see our 12U players around the fields selling concessions or participating in other activities to fundraise for their trip to Cooperstown. Your support of that effort is greatly appreciated.
4) Spectator Conduct. The start of the season inevitably brings excitement, and with that, sometimes overzealousness. Please remember that our games and league are about our kids. Please be respectful spectators, and respectful to our park by following park rules and cleaning up trash when able.
5) Umpires. Just as this will be the first game for our players this weekend, this will also be the first game for a slew of new umpires to the leagues;13 and 14 year olds who are learning how to umpire. Whether a new umpire or a seasoned vet, umpires will inevitably make mistakes. We hope that everyone handles those moments well and sets a good example for all of our players.
Last but not least, have some fun out there! The whole Board is looking forward to see everyone on the fields again.
