The Welles Park Parents Association (“WPPA”) is concerned about privacy, and has taken measures to protect the privacy of players, parents, guardians, coaches, umpires, and volunteers. This privacy policy applies to information collected on the WPPA website as well as information received from other sources such as player registration. Please read this policy carefully. By continuing to interact with our website or participating in the WPPA baseball or softball leagues, you acknowledge that you have read and understand the terms described in this privacy policy.
What information do we collect?
Automatically Collected Data: We may collect information as visitors interact with our website, such as making purchases or simply browsing. Our website uses cookies, and you can read our cookie policy below.
Registration Data: WPPA does not knowingly collect information from any child under the age of 13.
For players, we may collect personal information, including, but not limited to, names, dates of birth, etc.
For parents or guardians of players, we may collect additional personal information, including, but not limited to, names, mailing addresses, telephone numbers, and email addresses. We require this information to complete registration in our league, to allow us to communicate with parents/guardians, and to provide information about the league and additional services or promotions that may be relevant.
For coaches, managers, umpires, league officers, and other volunteers, we may collect or be required to collect personal information including names, mailing addresses, telephone numbers, and email addresses. We require this information for registration purposes and to communicate with you regarding league activities. Coaches, managers, umpires, volunteers, and league officers may also be required to provide to a third party service provider their dates of birth, social security numbers, and other government issued identification card numbers for the limited purpose of conducting background checks.
Sponsorship and Payment Data: If you submit payment to the WPPA online, the WPPA does not collect any financial or payment card information about you. We use third party service providers for that purpose. To the extent that you elect to submit payment to the WPPA through a check or other offline method, we may collect information about you including your name, address, phone number, and financial account information.

Services: We may use your personal information to provide services to our volunteers, parents, players, and to ensure that our leagues are successful. This typically requires the use of your information, including registration data, to provide program information, to fulfill your requests for information or products/services, to maintain a list of verified and eligible players, to maintain a list of volunteers, and provide them with the tools necessary to manage the league, or to respond to your inquiries. We may also use your information to communicate with you, such as to update you on new rules and operational issues.
Store Purchases: We use your personal information to process and ship orders for goods and services, to provide you with information related to your order, to improve your e-commerce experience, and for fraud detection purposes.
Archival: We may use, disclose, or share basic information, including identifying the names of players, their teams, team achievements, and years players played, for archival, recordkeeping, honorary, newsworthy or promotional purposes.
Legal: The law may require the WPPA to use, disclose, or share your information with third parties in response to legal proceedings, in response to a request from a competent law enforcement agency, to protect our rights, privacy, safety or property, or the public, to enforce the terms of any agreement, or for any other purpose that is required or permitted by law.
Mergers and Acquisitions: In the event that the WPPA or its assets are acquired by, or merged with, another organization or company including through bankruptcy, we may use, disclose, or share your information with any of our legal successors.
Fraud Detection: We may use, disclose, or share your information in order to investigate, prevent, or take action regarding illegal activities, suspected fraud, situations involving potential threats to the physical safety of any person, violations of this policy, or as otherwise required by law.
Aggregated and Anonymous Information: We may use aggregated and anonymous information for a variety of purposes related to the operation of the league. This information is not linked to any individual’s personal information, and cannot be used to identify you or any other individual.
How do I opt-out of receiving league e-mails?
If at any time you would like to unsubscribe from receiving future emails from the WPPA, you can log into your account and change your account settings to opt-out of e-mail communications. Alternatively, you can email info@wppachicago.org, and request to opt-out of e-mail communications. Please note: if you opt-out of e-mail communications, you may not receive important information about the league, game schedules, rain cancellations, and other information.
Do we disclose any information to third parties?
The WPPA does not sell your information for a profit. However, the information we collect about you may be shared with third parties. When we provide information to third parties, we make an effort to provide only the minimum amount of information that is necessary to accomplish the purpose for which the information is being shared.
Members and Volunteers: The WPPA is made up of the players, parent or guardians of players, coaches, managers, league officials, umpires, and volunteers. We may share your information with these third parties for the management and administration of the league.
Service Providers: The WPPA may share your information with service providers such as official league photographers, travel baseball coaches, providers of general services and equipment to the WPPA, and the provider of the service and platform that operates the WPPA website and registration application. Tournament and non-WPPA League Organizers: The organizations that run and administer travel tournaments and leagues may require that the WPPA share player registration information for the purposes of determining eligibility of teams to play in tournaments and non-WPPA leagues.

We have adopted reasonable technical, administrative and physical safeguards in an effort to prevent accidental loss and unauthorized access, use, alteration and disclosure of your information. However, the safety and security of your information also depends on you. Where you have obtained a password for access to our website, you are responsible for keeping the password confidential. You should not share your password with anyone.
Although we have implemented reasonable measures to protect your information, we cannot guarantee the privacy and security of personal information transmitted to our website. Any transmission of personal information is at your own risk.

If a person who we know to be under the age of 18 and for whom we have not received parental consent attempts to register with the WPPA, we will immediately delete their registration.
California, Nevada, and EU Residents
The WPPA website and the baseball and softball leagues operated by the WPPA are not intended for residents of California, Nevada or the EU. Should we obtain actual knowledge that any information we collect has been provided by a resident of California, Nevada or the EU, we will promptly delete that information.
